Douglas R. Simon

Douglas R. Simon, 60, Gas City, left this world too soon with his brother, Bruce D. Simon, on Saturday, November 18, 2017. He was born in Marion on November 14, 1957, to Franklin A. and Rose M. (McCoy) Simon.

Douglas attended Mississinewa Schools and was a floor covering installer at Morrell Floor Covering for several years. He was a hard worker with a great eye for detail and had installed several floors throughout Grant County. He was a member of Living Water Apostolic Church and always enjoyed cooking for church events.

There was nothing more gratifying to Douglas than spending time with his family. He was so proud to be a grandfather. He will be remembered for how much he loved to joke around with people, and he was always playing pranks on the people he loved most.

His memory will forever be cherished by his loving family which includes his mother, Rose Simon; children, Brandy M. Rogers, Florida, Tilar A. (Zach) Myers, Marion, and Katlyn R. (Nicholas Kruger) Simon, Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Malissa M. (Jordan) Parks, Greenwood; grandchildren, Payton, Caidyn, Austyn, Waylon, Alice, Alijah, and Aiden; sister, Peggy M. Sapp, Gas City; companion of nine years, Gay Ann Miller; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Simon; grandson, Devyn Simon; siblings, Rick, Polly, and Bruce; nephew, Colton Staggs; and his family dog, Babe.

The family will have a memorial service for Douglas at a later date with Pastor Robert H. Morrell officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
