Dorothy J. Bishop, 80, Terre Haute, Indiana passed away at 7:38 p.m. on November 18, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. Dorothy was born on December 2, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Bennie and Pauline (Flannery) Helton. On December 25, 1959 Dorothy married Loren J. Bishop. She worked as a homemaker but enjoyed the outdoors. She and her husband Loren loved camping. They had their property in Cicero, Indiana declared a wildlife sanctuary where they fed hundreds of birds daily. Dorothy was also a Girl Scouts leader for many years. She was a people person and would talk to anybody, because she was a very generous and loving person. Dorothy also was an avid Walmart shopper. She was of the Pentecostal Faith. Dorothy is survived by one son Benjamin Bishop, Terre Haute, Indiana; three daughters Sandra (Thomas) Henry, Indianapolis, Indiana, Jacquelyn Bishop, Terre Haute, Indiana and Paula Bishop, Terre Haute, Indiana; two brothers Troy Helton, Walkerton, Indiana and Roger Helton, North Manchester, Indiana; three sisters Sue Smith, Warsaw, Indiana, Ethel Woodling, Warsaw, Indiana and Alice Reichert, Kirksey, Kentucky; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Pauline Helton, one daughter, four brothers, and two sisters. Service will be Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Lynn Reichert will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, Indiana.
