Dorothy F. McWhirt, 92, passed away in Colonial Oaks on February 22, 2018. She was born April 9, 1925 in Marion, to Lon and Lona (Ellis) Troxell.
On July 15, 1955 she married David L. McWhirt. Mr. McWhirt preceded her in death on October 16, 1995. Dorothy retired from V&R TV Service in Upland. Her greatest love was her family. She also enjoyed working puzzles, taking pictures, sewing and doing craft projects. She also loved participating in the Upland Labor Day parade.
She will be missed by son, David L. McWhirt, Upland; daughters, Ethel (Dave) Williams, Upland; Dorothy Bell, Gas City; Ruth (Doug) Howard, Upland; brother, Fred Troxell, Marion; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Belle Williams; brothers, Jim, Frank and John Troxell; sisters, Ida Saunders and Florence Folk; grandson, Jimmy Howard.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 11am – 1pm in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana. Service will follow at 1:00 pm, with Dr. Thomas Mansbarger officiating. The burial will be at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.
