Doris V. Rogers Laymon, age 92 of Marion passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her home.
Doris was born on February 13, 1924 in Giles County, Tennessee to the late Elmer and Lettie Mae (Beddingfield) Hughes. She married David Rogers on June 1, 1942. She married Fred Laymon on September 3, 1983 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2001.
Doris was a meat wrapper for 15 years at Standard Food Stores Grocery, and attended Grace Community Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, spending time with her family, and was a member of the kitchenettes at Grace Community Church.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Rogers of Monticello, Indiana and Ron (Diane) Rogers of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters, Brenda Rhamy of Warren, Indiana, Betty (Lee) Miller, Stillwater of Oklahoma, and Debbie Brown of Cornersville, Tennessee; two brothers; Leon Hughes of Fayettville, Tennessee and Charles (Joan) Hughes of Athens, Alabama; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother David Hughes, of Pulaski, Tennessee.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 25, 2016 at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will take place immediately following funeral services at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington, County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 24, 2016, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion Indiana.
