Donna Louise Adamson, 92, Gas City, passed away at home on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 11:55 p.m. with her family by her side.
Donna was born on April 3, 1925, to John and Helen (Adams) Huston. She, along with her husband John, completed their GEDs later in life. She was employed at Midwest Envelope, Krofton, and W.T. Grant. Donna and John proceeded to own and run a pay-fishing lake, later turning into a very successful campground business at Pine Lake and Sports Lake (both in Upland) before retiring.
She loved to travel, visiting 48 of the 50 states. They traveled extensively every winter of the campground offseason. Donna and John also loved going to the beach at Reddington Shores and Panama City Beach, Florida. She was a wonderful cook and an amazing mother and grandmother. Family was her first priority. She spent all of her Sundays faithfully entertaining the entire family, cooking, fellowship, fun, and games. Donna’s grandkids were everything to her, and each and every one of them held a special place in her heart.
Donna is survived by one daughter, Carla Cochran; three sons, Roger Bolen, Rod (Pam) Bolen, and Terry (Marjorie) Adamson; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Betty Bolen and Renee’ Krabbe; sister, Beverly Powell; brother, Marion Huston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John (Helen) Huston; one sister, Carmen Sommers; three brothers, Bob Huston, Vic Huston, and Lionel Huston; husband, John Adamson; son, Ronald Bolen; step-son, John Mitchell Adamson; step-daughter, Cathy Smelser; and son-in-law, Rick Cochran.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Donna’s funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the funeral home with Terry and Kyle Adamson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
