Donald R. Williams, 96 of Huntington passed away at 2:15 am on Monday, February 22, 2016 at The Heritage of Huntington. Don was a 1938 graduate of Huntington High School, a 1943 graduate of Huntington College where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and a 1948 graduate of Ball State University where he received his Master’s Degree. He was a WWII veteran who served from 1943 – 1946. He fought in France earning two Battle Stars and is eligible for the French Appreciation Certificate and was in the Army of Occupation in Germany. He was a member of College Park United Brethren Church as well as the Huntington Exchange Club. Don worked as a chemist at Huntington Laboratory for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He also taught for eight years in Huntington County Schools.

Don was born on November 10, 1919 in Huntington, the son of Charles A. and Pearl E. (Renbarger) Williams.

He was united in marriage to Betty J. Grossman on July 1, 1956 in Wabash County, Indiana. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2014.

Survivors include two daughters: Trudy (Jeff) Bowditch of Fort Myers, FL; Ruth (Ted) Batson, Jr. of Zionsville; four grandchildren: Joshua Bowditch, Julie Bowditch, Kelsey Batson and Mackenzie Batson and two great grandchildren: Tyler Bowditch and Joslyn Bowditch.

He was preceded in death by a brother: James R. Williams and a sister: Helen M. Schuler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Gary Dilley officiating.

Interment will be at the St. Peter’s First Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington University or College Park United Brethren Church both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
