Donald Everett Hunt

Donald Everett Hunt, 67, Marion, died at 4:57 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in his residence. He was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on March 24, 1950, to the late Raymond K. Hunt and Clara E. (Everman) Hunt.

Donald, better known as “Don”, was a man of many words, many thoughts, and many talents. He had a great love for poetry, song writing, singing and playing his guitar, fishing and teaching others to fish. He enjoyed visiting all the local festivals, listening to all types of bands and music. In his pastime he watched all kinds of sports, and enjoyed movies and documentaries based on science fiction, imagination, and action.

Some of Don’s fondest memories included playing basketball on Valley Avenue, big dinners at his parents, playing cards and music at Granny’s, repairing brass instruments, as well as using his talent of jewelry repair at the old Pegden Brothers jewelry store. He loved to sit in the swing enjoying a warm summer night breeze with mom, better known to him as “Doll”.

He never wanted to pass up a concert with his son or a meal at his daughter’s. He played many games of Aggravation and Rummy with the grandkids and loved to go to the movies or rummaging with his best friend and wife, Theresa.

Donald was employed at BICC Cable for 14 years. He did not know a stranger and would have given the shirt from his back to someone in great need.

Don is survived by Theresa, his wife of 45 years; his son, Donnie and wife, Stephanie; grandsons, Charlie and Will; daughter, Tamara Rangel and husband, Mario and grandson, Kurtis and granddaughters, Beanie and Nana; brother, Raymond Hunt; sister, Jan Estill and husband, Dale Estill; mother and father-in-law, Margaret Ann and William McCuan; many cousins, friends, and wonderful neighbors.

His legacy will live on forever through our hearts. May his fun spirit and love for people live on through our actions. We will miss you Dad!

The family will receive visitors from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion. A funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will begin at 6 p.m. immediately following visitation.
