Don E. Zent, 79, of Van Buren, IN, passed away peacefully at 9:45 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, after seeing his family and close friends.  He had just returned from his winter home in Mission, TX.  He was born on Wednesday, January 19, 1938, in Van Buren, IN.  He met the love of his life as an infant, Donna Lee Karchner, as their mothers were in Home Ec. Club together.  They were together all through grade school, Jr. & Sr. High. Don a ball player and Donna a cheerleader. The two married on Sunday, August 25, 1957, she survives.  Don was President of the 1956 graduating class of Van Buren High School. He was a rural route carrier in the Grant County area for many years and worked on his family farm. Don was very involved in the Masonic Lodge #711, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was the past president of the Indiana Rural Letter Carrier Association. He and Donna were members of the Central Christian Church in Van Buren, where Don served as an elder for nearly 40 years.

 

Loving survivors include: Wife – Donna (Karchner) Zent, Warren, IN, Son – Michael (Peggy) Zent, Goshen, IN, Daughter – Darla (Bret) Ewer, Mission, TX, Grandsons – Larry (Sabrina) Brown, Dannon (Jenny) Brown, Pierce Zent, Parker Zent, Step Granddaughters – Haley (Randal) Brensdal, Jenny Ewer, Gr. Grandchildren- Jon Porter, Alex Porter, Ashley Porter, Logan Brown, Tyler Brown, Camlyn Brensdal, Emree Jane Brensdal, Parrin Brensdal, Gavin Michael Brown, Brother – Richard (Judy) Zent, Van Buren, IN, Sister – Vera (Thomas) Kitts, Van Buren, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his Parents – James Arthur & Iva Mae (Williamson) Zent.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Central Christian Church 201 S. 1st St. Van Buren on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A masonic service will be held at 7:00PM.

 

A service to celebrate Don’s life will be at Central Christian Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13, 2017 with Pastor Heath Jones and Chaplin Ginny Soultz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery in Van Buren.
