Delbert Thurman Warren, 68, Marion, died on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born on August 24, 1947 in Peru, IN, to the late Thurman William and Lessie Ellen (Smith) Warren. On April 10, 1971 he married Louise May Howell, with whom he had shared 44 years of marriage.

Delbert had worked at IMI (Irving Materials Inc.) as a welder, maintenance technician and driver for over 50 years. He had worked for IMI since he was 18 years old, and was very skilled at his job. Delbert was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Converse Masonic Lodge for over 40 years, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103 for over 50 years. Delbert liked to garden, and shared his produce with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, with fishing and hunting at the top of his list. Most of all, Delbert loved spending time with his family, and treasured the long country drives he had with Louise, simply taking in the wonder of nature all around.

In addition to his loving wife, Delbert is survived by his four children, Barbara Bennett of Kokomo, Kevin (Tracey) Warren of Hanover, PA, Brian (Misty) Warren of Swayzee and Dorinda (Aaron) Thompson of Montpelier; eleven grandchildren, Zachary Warren, Tashina Warren, Cody Bennett, Sarah (David) Heselton, Joshua Warren, Jacob Warren, Whitney Warren, Bethany Warren, Christa Warren, Anastasia Thompson and Shelby Thompson; four great grandchildren, Kasen Warren, Alexandra Heselton, Nathaniel Heselton and Samuel Heselton; his very close nieces and a nephew, Ellen (Ken) Slaven of Alexandria, KY, Edward Hawkins of Converse and Bonita (Robert) Morgan of Indianapolis. He is also survived by his close neighbor, friend and fishing buddy, James Kennedy, as well as several more friends and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Hawkins.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

Services for Delbert will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, February 18, 2016, with Pastor Bruce Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery.

At the family’s request, those attending the visitation and funeral are encouraged to dress casual, for this is the way Delbert would have wanted it.
