David was born in Marion, Indiana on October 10, 1934 to the late Roy and Mary (Ireland) Wells. He passed away on March 2, 2017 in his Marion residence.

David was a 1952 graduate of Van Buren High School. He served in the United States Army from June, 1956 until May, 1958. David married Barbara L. Speicher on May 28, 2004. Mrs. Wells survives. David worked at RCA for fifteen years as a line machine attendant. He also worked at Fisher Body as a laborer and welder maintenance until his retirement in 1998. In his free time, David enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and he was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. He was an animal lover and he had a special fondness for horses and dogs, especially Collies. David was a man of father and devoted must of his time to church.

David is survived by his children, Teresa (Brett) Bagwell, Morgan City, LA; David (Michele Jones) Wells, Marion; Linda (George) Blakely, Jonesboro; Danny (Cindy) Miller, Gas City; grandchildren, Dustin (Maggie) Bagwell, Joshua Bagwell, Angie (Mark) Trader, Scott (Susan) Miller, April (Rodney) Blackburn and Dallas Miller; special grandchild, Sadie Clark and seven great grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Wells; sisters, Ethel “Joan” Bickel; Katherine Atkinson and Jackie Nelson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Monday, March 6, 2017 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Grace Community Church, 1810 Bradford Pike, Marion, Indiana with Dr. Thomas Mansbarger officiating.

Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory, Marion, Indiana.
