David Samuel Watts, Jr., 68, of Warren, IN, passed away at 8:13 AM on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born on Friday, December 3, 1948, in Huntington, IN.  He married Starr Dilts on Saturday, September 19, 1970 in Warren, IN.  David was a 1966 graduate from Lancaser High School. After high school, he served in the US Army from 1966-1969. He was in the 7th Core Long Range Division in Germany and the 1-501 infantry regiment of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. David was selected and served in the Tiger Force recon unit while serving in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.

He was a lifetime farmer in Warren, a journeyman lineman for 14 years for the IBEW local 1393 in Indianapolis. He worked 26 years at General Motors in Marion as an industrial electrician. After retirement David was a self employed electrician. David especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a private pilot and enjoyed road trips, camping and boating with his wife Starr.  David and his wife attend the Gethsemane Ministries Baptist Church in Huntington.

 

Loving survivors include: Wife – Starr (Dilts) Watts, Warren, IN, Daughter – Teresa (Adam) Close, Huntington, IN, Grandsons – Samuel Terry Close & Charles Weston Close, Sisters – Joyce C. (David) Miller and Judy A. Rydell, all of Huntington, IN

 

He was preceded in death by his: Father – David Samuel Watts, Sr., Mother – Mary Louise (Eib) Watts, Brothers- Eugene F. Reeder, William H. Reeder and Donald L. Reeder.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Glancy – H. Brown & Son Funeral Home 203 N Matilda St. Warren on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

 

A service to celebrate David’s life will be at Glancy – H. Brown & Son Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 16, 2017; viewing will be held one hour before the service. Pastor Worlie Newsome will be officiating and burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.
