David Marshall Culp

David Marshall Culp, age 90, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:10 pm at the Heritage of Huntington.  He was a 1943 graduate of Goshen High School and obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from Indiana University School of Business in 1947.  He passed his CPA exam in in 1947 in Illinois and began working as a CPA at Price Waterhouse, Chicago. He moved to Huntington in 1950 where he began his own accounting business of David Culp & Company.  He retired in 1988. David was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, past president of Indiana CPA Society, past vice president of American Institute of CPA’s where he served as chairman of the committee that instituted peer review, past president of United Way Fund of Huntington, past president and over 60 year member of Rotary Club, past president of the Huntington County School Board, helped found Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and collected fishing lures and duck decoys.

 

David was born December 5, 1925 in Goshen, the son of Elmer J. and Naomi Ruth (Balyeat) Culp.  On June 12, 1948 he married his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Casey in Huntington and she passed away June 20, 2008.  He is survived by 2 sons David Culp of Washington, DC and Paul (Mary) Culp of Palatine, IL, a daughter Katheryn (Richard) Wysong of Albion, and a grandson Matthew Maples of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by 4 brothers Elmer Culp, Paul Culp, Robert Culp, and Richard Culp, and a sister Anna Ruth “Pat” Fowler.

 

A private family graveside service will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
