David “Dave” LeRoy Miller, 88, Gas City, went to be with the Lord at 4:10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Born in Marion, Indiana, to Vaughn and Mary (Hawkins) Miller, Dave graduated from Marion High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On February 12, 1948, Dave married his sweetheart, Betty Sue Renbarger. He loved her dearly and was faithfully devoted to her. Together, they raised their two children, Stephen and Sue Ellen.

Dave was proud of his family, and they were extremely important to him. He cherished his time with them and participated in their activities. He and Betty spent several years camping with family and friends, and they also loved to square dance. After his retirement, they took an extended road trip to California, enjoying places of interest along the way. They also spent many winters in Florida.

After serving in the Navy, Dave worked as a printer at Bainbridge Printing until opening and operating Miller’s Shell Service in Jonesboro. He also worked as a crib attendant at GM for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. Dave’s faith was also very important, and he was a member of First Church of God in Marion.

Throughout his life, Dave designed and built homes for his family. He also took great joy in building and running his model trains. In 1991, Dave won the state championship in pitching horseshoes for his division with the Marion Horseshoe Club. Cars and racing were pretty special to Dave as well. He entered his 1968 Nova into several car shows and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was also a fan of the Indiana Pacers.

He will be missed dearly by Betty, his wife of 68 years; son, Stephen (Sandy) Miller; daughter, Sue (Robert) Daurelle; grandchildren, Andrea, Jamie (Matt), Jacob, and David; great-grandchildren, Owen, Emma, and Cade; brother, Albert (Barbara) Miller; brother-in-law, Jesse (Dottie) Brookshire; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Mickey.
