David Allan Downam, 44, New Castle, went to be with the Lord at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Marion to Larry Downam and Barbara (Hogan) Nelson. On August 24, 1996, David married Barbara Kendall, and she survives.
David was a graduate of Mississinewa High School and worked as a grill manager at McDonald’s. He held his church membership at Southside Wesleyan. One of the things David’s family and friends will remember about him was his love for the outdoors and how much he enjoyed working on various projects. He also enjoyed riding and working on 4-wheelers and motorcycles. Most of all, though, David loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara; children, Jenna (Jacob) Hobbs, Angel Downam, Christopher Robbins, and Zachary Downam; father, Larry (Cheryl) Downam; mother, Barbara Nelson; brother, Timothy (Lisa) Downam; sisters, Melissa (Barry) King and Christie Downam; grandchildren, Parker, Conner, and Hunter Hobbs; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Southside Wesleyan Church, 312 E. S. “E” St., Gas City. His funeral service begins at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doug Sharrard officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
