Darlene J. Sloderbeck, 83, passed away on Sunday, May 14, at the Marion Rehabilitation Center in Marion, Indiana, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Verlis “Jessie” and Marguerite (Leigh) Campbell. She married her husband, Charles Sloderbeck, in Marion, Indiana, on May 19, 1956, and he survives. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this week.

Darlene worked as a teacher’s aide for Marion Community Schools for 10 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion, where she served in the past as a deaconess. She also helped organize meals for those who have lost loved ones. She enjoyed sewing. Her favorite past time was time spent loving on her grandchildren.

She was a loving mother of five children; Mrs. Kim (Richard) Stephan, Brad (Angel) Sloderbeck, Mrs. Angela Kirby, Keith (Mary) Sloderbeck and David “Joe” Sloderbeck. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, brother, Mike (Mary) Kirby, and sister, Odeama (Donald) Shepard.

Arrangements for Darlene have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Pastors Mick Simpkins and Charlie Hall officiating.
