Daniel F. Albers, 74, of Peru, passed away at 8:25 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 20, 1942, the son of Norbert and Edith Meyer Albers. Dan married Jean Keith at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kokomo on March 6, 1971, and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2008. Dan was a 1960 graduate of Batesville High School, Batesville, IN. He served for more than 32 years in the US Navy and Air Force, was a Viet Nam War Veteran and retired as a MSGT from the US Air Force in 2002. His Military decorations include the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Force Service Medal, the Republic of Viet Nam Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Dan was also a retired Miami County Farmer. Dan was a true American Patriot, serving God, Country and his family, whom he loved dearly. His faith permeated all aspects of his life and he was an active member of the St. Charles Catholic Church. Surviving is a son Greg Albers of Altus, OK, daughters Torrie Zimmerman and her husband Phill of Delphi, IN, Susan Yant and her husband Todd of Sugar Grove, OH and Elizabeth Forma and her husband Anthony of Austin, TX; grandchildren Jack Forma, Corbin Forma and Roxy Forma and siblings Linda (Joseph) Gardner, Sandy (Pat) Lenahan, Janet (Hank) Mueller, Ginny Albers, Walt Albers, Bernie (Mary Carol) Albers, Chuck (Bonnie) Albers and Halima (Kathy) Albers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean, and brothers Larry and Kenneth Albers. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Daniel F. Albers, will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 7, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 West 5th St., Peru with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in the Peoria Cemetery with Military Graveside Services provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru. There will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church.
