Dale E. Long, 90, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Marion VA Hospital. Dale was born on November 2, 1926, in Greentown, Indiana to the late Carl and Pearl (Miller) Long. Dale grew up in Kokomo, Indiana and joined the Army when he was 19. He served proudly in World War II, and even landed in Japan the day after the bombs were dropped. Dale married Virginia (Wolf) Long on August 24, 1963. She survives.
Dale enjoyed reading and gardening. He continued to garden as long as he could, even after Virginia and the kids would tell him he couldn’t do that anymore.
Dale is survived by his wife, Virginia Long, Marion, IN; 3 children, Lisa Purvis, Lynn Allen, and Mike Long, all of Marion, IN; and 1 granddaughter, Cassidy Purvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pearl, and son-in-law, Scott Allen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana. A graveside service has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 10:00 with Scott Wilson officiating.
