Dakota R. Erickson, 24, of Peru, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peru on April 9, 1993 to Jennifer Walden and John Erickson.

He was a 2011 graduate of Maconaquah High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army as an Airborne Infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC and served our country for over 3 years, he spent a year of this time overseas serving in South Korea. He has been employed at Miami Correctional Facility as a Sergeant since 2015. He really enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, xbox, his Truck “Lifted Lifestyle” and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his parents, Jennifer (Chris) Walden of Peru and John Erickson of Gallatin TN; two siblings Dayton and Makinsey Erickson of Peru, half-brother Derek Schrader of Peru, maternal grandmother Nancy Ege of Peru, paternal grandfather Everett Erickson of Bunker Hill, special grandparents Randy and Linda Walden of Greenwood IN; uncle Charlie Erickson of Galveston, cousins, Brayden and Jordan Roe and Katie and Jessica Erickson.

He was preceded in death by grandmother Linda Erickson, grandfather Bob Ege and aunt Allison Berry.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home with Evangelist Shane Capps and Pastor Keith Treadway officiating. Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Cass County. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at Riverview Funeral Home.
