Coy Rayburn Combs, 68, Marion, died at 8:55 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion. He was born in Sassafras, KY, to the late Pauline (Collins) Smith.

Coy graduated from high school in Covington, KY. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW and was employed at Lance’s New Market as a stock clerk.

Coy was an avid bowler and a fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed his time spent with family, and he loved his dog, “Gus.”

Survivors include his father, Truman Smith; sons, Michael (Lorna) Combs, Fort Wayne, and Mitchell Combs, Marion; grandchildren, Sidney Combs and Carly Combs; and sister, Sharon Fisher, Marion.

In addition to his mother, Coy was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Barbara Combs.

Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Marion VA Protestant Chapel, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, IN. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Todd Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
