NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Area businesses beware. The North Manchester Police Department has received a report of 5 counterfeit $20 being received by local businesses in the last week. According to Officer Keith Whiting, the bills’ paper has the right feel, weight and printing. All of the bills have different serial numbers. The counterfeiters have attempted to put a water mark on the bills. All 5 of the bills have a security thread, (strip) in them. Although, when put under ultra violet light the security thread shows blue instead of the authentic green used by the US Mint. The counterfeit pen used by many businesses does work on these bills.
