Cody R. Harris, 42, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 9:17 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion to Robert R. and Joyce M. (LeClaire) Harris. Cody married Michelle A. Lewis on February 14, 1998, and she survives.

Cody was a 1993 graduate of Marion High School and Indiana Business College. He had also attended Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a Lead Career Advisor for WorkOne of Indiana for ten years, and he was Coordinator of Church Ministries at Mt. Olive UMC, where he was a member since 1998.

Cody was an Eagle Scout. He was co-chairman of Grant County Special Olympics, with which he was proudly involved. He was an avid Star Wars fan and also enjoyed racing 1/32 scale slot cars. Cody also enjoyed playing video games with his son, Eli, and riding rollercoasters with his daughter, Kayah. He loved to cook and was an excellent chef. Cody cherished time spent with his family and friends, and he particularly enjoyed having big bonfires with the people he loved.

Michelle, his wife of 19 years, survives him, as well as his parents, Robert (Joyce) Harris, Marion; children, Eli and Kayah Harris, Marion; brother, Tim (Michelle) Harris, Marion; 11 nieces and nephews; father- and mother-in-law, Donald L. (Marsha) Lewis, Converse; brothers-in-law, Donald R. (Michelle) Lewis and Richard P. (Mindy) Lewis; his dogs, Ahsoka and Mia; several friends from Grant County Special Olympics; his co-workers; and his church family at Mt. Olive. In addition to his grandmother, Alice Harris, his dog, Austin, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Mt. Olive UMC, 2015 N. 300 W., Marion, IN.

Cody’s funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the church with Pastor Rob Barton officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Special Olympics IN-Grant County, P.O. Box 1093, Marion, IN 46952-1093 or a scholarship fund for Cody’s children, c/o Regions Bank, 1503 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN 46952.
