Clara L. Kindle, 88, Jonesboro, a born-again Christian, received her heavenly reward at 11:59 a.m. on September 16, 2016, as she was surrounded by her loving family at Twin City Health Care in Gas City. She was a lifelong resident of Grant County and was born in Gas City, Indiana, to the late John D. and Carrie L. (Barton) Spaulding. On August 24, 1946, she married Charles G. Kindle, and they shared 53 years together until he passed on February 8, 2000.

Clara and Charles were blessed with a large and loving family, and they knew nothing delighted Clara more than to serve their family and others. Some of Clara’s hobbies included crocheting, camping, and fishing with family and friends. She also liked to read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, as well as listen to her sons play music and sing. Outside of the home, Clara was a former member of the Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Loved ones Clara leaves behind include her children, Charles (Diane) Kindle, Jr., Gas City, Sharon (Randall) McCormick, Gas City, Patricia (Robert) Riddle, Jonesboro, Kim E. (Rita) Kindle, Sweetser, Terry (Kimberly) Kindle, Converse, and Steven L. (Cinda) Kindle, Frankfort; brothers, Charles (Dodie) Spaulding, Fowlerton, and Joe (Trudy) Spaulding, Marion; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Spaulding.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Marie Moyer and Stella Sinclair; brothers, Buddy, John, Ronald, and Thomas Spaulding; great-grandson, Preston Kindle; and granddaughter, Melinda Riddle

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate Clara’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park.
