Charles P. Sharp, Jr., 93, Marion, was surrounded by his family when he passed away at Wesleyan Health Care Center at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017. On January 13, 1924, he was born in Huntington County to the late Charles and Arlo (Cantwell) Sharp, Sr.. Charles married Margaret Ellen Orr, and they shared 61 years together until she passed away on January 31, 2001.

Charles retired from General Tire and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a great family man. His children, and especially his grandchildren, loved to spend time with him. Whether it was fishing (a favorite pastime of his), tossing water balloons at family gatherings, dancing around in a tutu (he looked fabulous!), or just catching up about life, he was always there. He helped to shape the people that his children are today, and the people that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren will become.

He is survived by his children, Sue Ellen (Dave) Satterthwaite, Tim (Terri) Sharp, Marilee (Jeff) Cox, Peg (Tom) Keegan, Joe (Susan) Sharp, Julie (Dave) Prentice, Paula (Matt) Farmer, and Lori (DJ) Fiene; grandchildren, Trent (Andrea), Shawn (Jeremy), Terrence (Emily), Eric (Betty), Brian (Heidi), Bill (Tracy), Cody (Christine), Lisa (Chris), Melissa, Joshua, Tod, James, Melinda (Daniel), Macy (Ben), Maggie, Caroline (Tiffany), Taylor, and Toran; many great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Don) Little, Mildred (Bud) Hullinger, Dorothy Orr, and Linda Orr; and numerous more family members and friends.

In addition to his parents and the love of his life, his wife, Margaret, he was preceded in death by sons, Terrence A. Sharp and Daniel P. Sharp, and siblings, Carl Sharp, Clyde Sharp, Claude Sharp, Delbert Sharp, Charlene Florea, and Evabelle Lemons.

The family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.

Charles’ funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Rd., Marion. Father Richard Weisenberger will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
