Charles “Chuck” Joseph Hartisch passed away at his home, on March 16, 2016. He was born February 5, 1956 in Peru, to Karl and Pauline Hartisch. He graduated Peru High School 1974. He met Joleen Patton, the love of his life, on March 1st, 1983 and they were married by Rev. George McCartey on September 26, 1987. They had 33 wonderful years together. She survives, along with his two four legged best friends, “Dusty” and “Maggie Joy”.

Chuck worked various jobs through his life, the last being at United Technology (Leer) in Peru, where he worked for 23 years until it closed. He was a member of the Literary Aid Society. Chuck was also an avid Colts fan, and he was involved in sports in school and after. He played golf, disc golf, enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, playing pool, and cards to name a few of his favorite pastimes. He was always quick to lend a helping hand, and had many stories to make you laugh — and his laugh was infectious. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Along with his wife, he is survived by daughter Michelle (Gary) Sautter, and a son Philip (Melissa) Bowen. Also surviving are one brother Karl (Jackie) Hartisch, two sisters, Nancy (Steve) Cobb, Carol (Mark) Pier. Also, three granddaughters, one grandson, three great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. His main ” sidekick” was a special niece, Olivia (Lu Lu) Patton. Also surviving are his two brother-in-laws, Bill Patton and partner Kirk Reynolds, and Ron (Ruby) Patton; also four sisters-in-laws, Linda (Bud) Skinner, Sharon (Paul) Young, Sue (Mike) Faiola, Ruth Patton and special friend Carmel Trent. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife’s parents who he loved dearly, Woodrow (Lola) Patton, brother-in-laws Wayne (Carol) Patton, Mike, Tim, Robert, Patton and one sister-in-law Ann (Joe) Casper. Also, his four legged “best friends” Job, Baby, Buster, Ditter Marie, Boomer Bernard, and Sadie Sue (who he is surely surrounded by now), as well as a limitless number of long and short term friends.

Chuck never met a stranger. He always wanted to make people laugh, but felt deep empathy for any of their sadness and pain. He certainly made a mark for himself in this life, and is leaving behind many friends and family who will remember him with fond memories and much love.
