Charles “Chas” Eugene Singer

On Thursday, December 7, 2017, Heaven received another faithful servant, Charles “Chas” Eugene Singer, 59, Swayzee, who passed away at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Roger and Betty Jane (Holcombe) Singer, Chas married the love of his life, Denise Lynne Rhoades, on February 11, 1978, and she survives.

Chas graduated from high school in Indianapolis and attended Marion College. In 1997, he began serving as Associate Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, Indiana, where he also led worship, directed the choir, and served as a counselor, among many other responsibilities. He was a member since 1990 and graduated from Liberty Bible Institute. Prior to his ministry at Liberty Baptist, Chas worked for 15 years at Marion Utilities, Marion, Indiana.

Some of his favorite hobbies included playing guitar, as well as riding his motorcycle and off-roading dirt bikes and ATVs with his family. Chas also enjoyed being outdoors, especially near the water. He loved watching the stars, along with all of the Lord’s creation. He loved going on cruises, as well as spending time on the golf course with his friends. His passion and love for Christ naturally led him to love others and be with them. He will be missed dearly by a host of friends and family.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Denise; children, Dave (Kristi) Singer, Jalapa, Cammi Sue (Eric) Edmiston, Fort Wayne, Katie Lynne (Matt) Dooney, Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Shay, Alivia, Trevin, Wesley, and Calvin; brothers, Ron (Claire) Singer and Dave Singer; sister, Marcy Singer; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his church family.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Betty Jane Loftin, and step-father, John Reeves Loftin.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser, IN.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the church at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, with Pastors Terry Bishir, Mike Click, Barry Earley, and RT Stringer officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
