Catherine Elizabeth Dawald, 98, formerly of rural North Manchester, Indiana, died at 5:18 am, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash, where she had lived since October of 2015. She was born July 9, 1918 in Wabash County, Indiana to Frederick and Elizabeth (King) Allman.
Catherine was a 1937 graduate of Urbana High School and received her bachelor degree from Manchester College in 1941. She was a school teacher 15 years retiring in 1958. Catherine married Norman A. Dawald in Urbana on January 29, 1949; he died April 27, 1997. She was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, The Rebekah lodge in Wabash, the Wabash County Retired Teachers Association, and the Ladies Night Out Home Ec Club. She enjoyed teaching, needlework, sewing, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a daughter, and a granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, June 5, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Heather Olson-Bunnell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Monday at the funeral home.
