Carol Sue “Suzie” (Pontius) Halley went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at home

She was born on July 5, 1942 in Peru In to Burgess & Audra Pontius (both deceased).  She was # 6 of 7 children born alive, as they lost their first child. After her mother passed away, she helped raise her sister and two nieces for three years.

She married Ralph Henry Halley on March 1, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Peru.

She worked at the Kar-Hop, Tally Ho, Froggie’s, and Patio.  Her last job was at the Miami County YMCA for 26 ½ years. She retired from the YMCA. While she was there, she started at the front desk. She did summer Day Camp and Tiny Tots. She also did Senior Citizens exercises, as well as Pre-School and became Pre-School Director. She also was the 1st Bus Director for seniors. Her other job was Reservation Director in charge of meeting rooms and parties. One special job she did was making calls each month for the Y Board monthly meeting. For a while, she did the lunch for those meetings. She enjoyed making baskets, which she gave as wedding gifts. She also made a basket each year for the YMCA silent auction that they have in December. She also decorated a Christmas tree for them.

She was a member of East Pointe Bible Church. She was kitchen director until June 2017.  She was a greeter and in charge of the Keenagers and a member of the ladies quilting group. Her church was everything to her, as was her faith.

She is survived by her husband, Henry; daughter Dawn & husband Daniel Hartleroad; son Terry & wife Jennifer Halley; grandchildren Leslie & husband Michael Lamble, Grant Hartleroad, Blair Hartleroad, Braxton Caldwell and great-granddaughter Skylar Dawn Lamble. Also, two brothers and one sister: Bob & Alice Pontius (Fort Wayne), Jim & Roberta Pontius (Peru) and Mary & Earl Decker New Haven); sister in-law Dianne & Keith Stockdale (Mexico) and a special friend (like a sis) Nancy Gates.  Also surviving are several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bill Pontius; two sisters, Colletta Nelson and Jeanne Ann Ewing; father in-law Ralph Halley; and mother in-law & father in-law Mary & Hugh Long.

Visitation and services will be at the East Pointe Bible Church in Peru, Indiana on Friday, August 18, 2017, with viewing from 2pm – 5pm and funeral service to follow at 5pm, with Pastor Jim Butler officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA Tennis Program and to East Pointe Bible Church.
