Carol J. Burke, 70, of Marion, Indiana, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center, La Fontaine, Indiana.
Carol was the daughter of the late John H. and E. Lenore (Winger) Cook and was born March 28, 1946 in Elyria, Ohio. She married Thomas Burke Feb. 14, 1996, and he survives in La Fontaine.
She was an avid bowler and bowled on a father-daughter league until his death in 1973 and then she continued on bowling. She was proud to say that she was a Lady Giant on the girls basketball team while in high school where she also played baseball. Carol graduated from Marion High School Class of 1964 and was a graduate of Marion Business College. She was a member of Marion Church of the Brethren where she was a member of the Red Hatter’s society. She loved pets and babies and she was the most loving, caring person you could meet. She enjoyed listening to her grandson play the piano.
Also surviving her are a son, Scott Hethcote of Marion; grandchildren, Joshua Hileman, Marion, Ashlynn and Cainan Ailes of Sweetser, Indiana; special friend, Carolyn King, Marion; and cousins, Mary and Lou Ann Agness.
Also surviving are her dogs, Maggie and Rusty, and her cats, Smokey and Tabbie.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Mike Weldon, and her dog Abbie.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marion General Hospital and Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center for the care that they gave to Carol these last few months.
Funeral services for Carol will be Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Marion Church of the Brethren, 2202 S. Geneva Ave., Marion, IN, with Pastor William House officiating. Burial will be in the Converse Cemetery, Converse, Indiana. Friends may call at the College Park Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave. Marion, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 4-8 p.m.
