Carol A. Pinkerton, 84, lifelong resident of Marion, went to be with the Lord in her home at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Born in Marion to Stanley and Ruth (Hale) Evans, Carol graduated from Marion High School in 1951. She worked at General Tire for 13 years before marrying James “Jim” E. Pinkerton on April 16, 1977. Together, they raised six children and Carol devoted her time helping her husband on their family farm. She retired in 1995.

Carol loved being outdoors but, most of all, it gave her great joy and delight spending time with her family and being involved in their lives. She lived a life faithfully serving her loved ones and the Lord. Carol was a member of Upland UMC and AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim; children, Joni (Jerry) Pfeiffer, Nevada, Missouri, Jeff (Annette) Long, Amboy, Brett (Ginger) Pinkerton, Marion, Cathy (Ron) Skinner, Marion, Amy (Calvin) Holloway, Marion, and Janelle (Michael) Davis, Kenova, West Virginia; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister; Ona Durkes; and 3 grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Carol’s funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Rob Neal will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire for all who will be attending.

The family’s preferred memorial of choice is Upland UMC, 123 E. Washington St., Upland, IN 46989.
