Carl E. Heyde, 79 of Huntington passed away at 8:56 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital. Carl was a 1955 graduate of Huntington High School. He had worked at Heyde Gas Station, Memcor/E-Systems and was founder and president of Miami Tool & Die, Inc. from 1969-2016. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fulda, Germany. He was a member of the Banquo Christian Church as well as American Legion Post #85, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #837, VFW Post 2689 and was an avid community supporter. He enjoyed many activities over the years, including golf, fishing, motorcycling, mushroom hunting, traveling, bowling, playing cards and enjoying his family and friends.
Carl was born on March 8, 1937 in Marshall County, Indiana, the son of Alvin and Hazel (Sheneman) Heyde.
He was united in marriage to Carole (Trook) Hacker; his second marriage was to Connie Hiatt on December 24, 1976. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters: Joy (Don) Conley of Huntington; Kristi (Randy) Young of North Manchester; Kelli Koontz of Huntington; two brothers: Dallas (Sheila) Heyde of Warren; Larry (Doric) Heyde of Huntington; a sister: Jo Ann (Max) Sell of Huntington; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Alvin and Hazel Heyde, his wife: Connie Heyde, and two sons: Jeff Hethcote and Mike Morris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made out toAmerican Lung Association or American Legion Post #85 both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana 46750.
