Bruce Ivan Smith, Sr., 79, Marion, died at 1:49 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Brookdale Marion. He was born in Sweetser, IN, to the late Ivan and Helen (Swartz) Smith.
Bruce was employed at RCA for 13 years, GM for 7½ years, and DANA for 34 years. He was an avid camper and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his children, Richard I. Smith, Huntington, Jack L. (Valerie) Smith, Elkhart, Tresa D. (Richard) Waters, Huntington, Penny L. Smith, Milford, Bruce I. (Tina) Smith, Jr., Gainesville, GA, Debrenia Vanness, Hartford City, Jackie Hillman, Hartford City, Margie (Don) Patrick, Hartford City, Virgilene C. (Robert) Byus, AZ, Floyd (Scott) Frieszell, Alexandria, Rebecca (Nick) Girod, Peru, and Ricky (Vickie) Frieszell, Noblesville; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and siblings, Francis Smith, WI, Lorena Briggs, Walkerton, and Ronnie Smith, Marion.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah L. Smith; granddaughter, Samantha Stambaugh; step-sister, Patricia Smith; and step-mother, Ruth Smith.
Friends and family may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
