Betty Lou Stith

Betty Lou Stith, 85, lifetime resident of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 1:42 p.m. at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.  She was born in Marion to the late William Perry and Delores (Wysong) Surber, Sr., and graduated from Marion High School in 1951.

On May 26, 1951, Betty married Philip Edward Stith, Sr..  They were married for 53 years until he passed away on May 6, 2005.  Betty worked at United Technologies, where she was a quality control inspector for 20 years.  She was a great mother and cook and always looked forward to family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren.  Betty also loved to travel, shop, and go out to eat.  She had a long-standing monthly engagement when she would go out to dinner with her friends from Biff Burger.  She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori Ann (David) Prater, Marion; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Stith, Sims; grandchildren, Bryan (Pamela) Stith, Sarasota, Florida, Kaylee (Greg) Daugherty, Marion, John (Courtney) Prater, Van Buren, Heather (David) Shauver, Pennville, Jacob (Chandra) Stith, Sims, and Brandon (Bonnie) Prater, Noblesville; granddaughter-in-law, Cara (Tommy) Brager, New Haven; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Brayden, Keegan, Cierra, Cayden, Kellan, Aisley, Parker, Finlee, Brayden, Connor, and Trenady.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Philip Edward Stith, Jr.; brother, William Perry Surber, Jr.; grandson, Chad Stith; and great-granddaughter, Julianne Stith.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Betty’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Pastor Brent Miller will be officiating with burial following at Thrailkill Cemetery in Swayzee.
