Betty June McAlpine, 92, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 7:51 pm, Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Parkview Wabash Hospital. She was born June 8, 1925 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles B. Johnson and Elizabeth (Hollars) Conner.
Betty graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. She married Dr. Richard J. McAlpine in Bloomington, Indiana on August 12, 1951; he died September 4, 2007. She worked as the office manager for her husbands medical practice for many years. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Huntington, Indiana. Betty loved painting, playing the organ, and cooking was her passion. She was an avid collector of cookbooks and recipes.
She is survived by three children, Dr. Denise (Dennis Barth) Hartman, of Ambler, Pennsylvania, Tim McAlpine of Key West, Florida, and Scott McAlpine of North Manchester; two grandchildren, Dr. Jason Hartman of Denver, Colorado, and Katherine (Elia Malka) Hartman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her four year old Cairne Terrier, Kyla. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Glen Conner, and one brother Charles Johnson, Jr.
Per Betty’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, Indiana.
