Betty J. Dickison

Betty J. Dickison, 78, of rural Jonesboro, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Wesleyan Health Care.

Betty was born on August 5, 1939 in Jonesboro, Indiana, daughter of the late Clarence W. and Wavalene (Holloway) Nelson. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1958 and received her BS in Nursing from Marion College (IWU). Betty worked as an LPN at the Marion VA Medical Center for 2 years and at Marion General Hospital for 23 years. Betty married James Dickison on January 30, 1965. She attended the Fowlerton United Methodist Church and Hanfield United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and going out to eat, especially at Red Lobster and Hong Kong.

Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Dickison, children; Nathan (Janelle) Dickison, and Rebekah Snedigar, both of Van Buren, and Daniel Dickison, Jonesboro; sister, Roberta (Barry) Bennett, Gas City, and brother, Keith, (Sandy) Nelson, Fairmount, 3 grandchildren; Emily Snedigar, Ohio, Derek (Kassandra) Sutton, Jonesboro, and Cory Sutton, Van Buren, great-grandson, Kieran Sutton, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where there will be a visitation on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11-1 PM with the funeral at 1 PM with Pastor Jack Scott officiating. Burial will be at a later date at IOOF Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fowlerton United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
