She earned her degree in Nursing from St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. Barbara’s nursing career, which focused on administration and management in surgical services, led her to Missouri, Michigan, Hawaii, and California, where she met and married her love, Bill Reed. In 1999, Bill and Barbara moved to Peru, Indiana, where she continued to practice nursing at Duke’s Memorial Hospital. After her retirement, Barbara enjoyed serving her community by volunteering at Duke’s.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Reed, after 25 years of marriage. Most of all, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She and Bill traveled to Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan frequently to be with their loved ones. Barbara’s vibrant zest for life left a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to have known and spent time with her.
