Barbara Jean Jones, 82, Van Buren, died in her home at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. She was born in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late Guy Leonard and Nell (Gardner) Crisp. She married Jimmy Jones, Sr., and they shared 23 years together until he passed away on January 23, 1976.
Barbara worked at the Marion VA Medical Center, where she retired after 16 years of service. She liked puzzles and reading magazines. Barbara loved watching the NBA and was an avid Pacers fan. She also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts play. Barbara especially loved playing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by her children, Debra K. (Steven) Whitlock, Marion, Jimmy (Gail) Jones, Jr., Van Buren, and Brenda (Richard Brewer) Jones, Marion; grandchildren, Katrina (Johnny) Weaver, Walter Whitlock Jr., Mary (Richard) Reyes, Jonathon Jones, Douglas (Ayumi) Smith, Michael (Trina Cornelius) Matthews, Cindra (Steven) Crist, and Jared Stevens; great-grandchildren, Jozlynn Reyes, Colin Reyes, Olivia Reyes, Xavier Jones, Caden Jones, Colson Crist, Michael Smith, and Rachelle Smith; and sister, Brenda Joyce Graham, Knoxville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Ronald Jones, and sisters, Geneva Downey and Geanette Crisp.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Barbara’s funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Terry Bishir officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland.
