Barbara Jane (McKinney) Gosser passed away peacefully in Indianapolis on July 6, 2017. She was born on December 20, 1928, in Gas City to the late Ernest “Cap” and Edith (Ice) McKinney and married the love of her life, Walter Gosser, Jr., on February 12, 1949. Barb and Walt built a home in Gas City, raised their family, and shared a lifetime of love and happiness there until his death in 2012. Theirs was a never-ending love affair.

Barbara’s career was spent in the Personnel, Insurance, and Prescription Products offices of Owens-Illinois. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was as beautiful and gracious as she was, and she relished nothing more than preparing a delicious meal and sharing it with those she loved. Barbara was warm, vivacious, and affectionate, and her love of people and sense of humor made her a welcome addition at any gathering.

Barbara and Walt never missed a sporting event or school function for their kids or grandkids, and their lives revolved around their family and home, their church (First Christian Church of Gas City), their wide circle of friends, endless cats and dogs, and travel. The two of them spent many an afternoon cheering on the Purdue Boilermakers and the Indianapolis Colts.

In addition to Walt and her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Joe, and his wife, Nondus; her brother-in-law, Ralph Snyder; and sister-in-law, Pat Gosser. Barbara will be dearly missed by her son, W. Kent (Nicki) Gosser, Marion; her daughter, Ginger Gosser, Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Maura “Annie” (Nick) Murphy, Indianapolis, and Evan Gosser, Dallas, Texas; and great-granddaughters, Morgan and Maeve Murphy. Additional survivors include brother-in-law, Jerome Gosser, Boca Raton, Florida; sister-in-law, Dolores Snyder, Murrieta, California; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation to honor Barbara will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, with memorial services to follow at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Barbara’s memory may be made to Greyhound Pets of America–Indianapolis, P.O. Box 42304, Indianapolis, IN 46242.
