Wife,mother, grandmother, friend, and 4-H lover, Barbara J. Payne (63) passed away on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 at 4:45pm in the comfort of her own home. She was born in Peru on July 25th, 1953 to her parents Harold and Betty (Mishler) Moseley.Barbara married her best friend, David Payne on August 31st, 1974. Since then they have enjoyed 42 years of marriage and building their family together. Barbara is survived by her husband, her son, Nick who is married to Melissa and they have two beautiful girls, Alexis and Aubrey (Plymouth), as well as her 2 daughters, Sarah Payne who is in a relationship with Bryan Siblisk (Galveston), and Mandy who married Eric Miller and has 4 great kids, Carter, Ellie, Vincent, and Laura Jo (Peru). Barbara’s sisters Patricia Hardwick and Shirley Kerns reside in Peru. Barbara adored her family, especially her 6 grandchildren. You would often find her on the floor playing, or doing some sort of craft with them.Barbara was one of the most caring and giving people you would have ever met. She was so active in her community and in her home. Barbara’s passion was 4-H. She poured her heart into the program serving for 28 years as a 4-H leader to the Erie Eagles, and was superintendent of the project building for 18 years. She also served on the 4-H council and one of her biggest joys throughout her year was Pancake Day and fair week. She was loved and cared for deeply by the people at her church, Walk By Faith (Roann), and her Country Friends Home Ec Club. She also worked at the Department of Fish and Wildlife for 29 years. But above all, Barbara was a follower of Christ and trusted Him with her life all the way to the end.A graveside service for close friends and family will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Salem Cemetery at 10:30am with Pastor Brad Eckerley officiating.A Celebration of Life gathering for Barbara will be held at the Miami County 4-H building on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2:00-7:00pm.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Funeral Home to Miami County 4-H. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W.
