Our family Matriarch, Barb (Cafouras) Truax, 82, Logansport, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at 4:10 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Barb was born to Jack and Ella Cafouras on January 9, 1935, in Marion County, Indiana. On August 12, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Ed. Barb and Ed were voted the most popular seniors at Ben Davis High School on November 16, 1952, and were the proud winners of the Hillbilly Hop dance competition at Ben Davis High School in 1953. Barb loved the outdoors and planting flowers.
For many years, she enjoyed planting a garden and watching it grow through her picture window while sitting at the dining table drinking her coffee. She enjoyed her life in the country and taking care of their farm. She was an avid golfer, winning many championships in her younger years. Barb and her family own the Leaning Tree Golf Course where she was a member of the women’s golf league.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George “Jack” Cafouras; sisters, Rosie Weaver, Carolyn Austin and half-brother, Kenny Riley. She is survived by her husband, Ed, and five (5) sons: Norman (Susanne), Stanley, James (Cindy), Arnie (Rene), Aaron (Susan); grandchildren: Christina, Jen (Jeff) Moss, Stephanie (Adrian) Holt, Alyssa (Rob Michael), Ryan Plunkett, Brad (Sherry), Kelsey, Kimberley, Ashley Bovie, Zack Phipps, Meghan, Adam (Emily), and Amber (Jake Williams); 14 great-grandchildren, with a great-grandson due in January; sister, Pat Fischer; and nieces and nephews. At Barb’s request, there will be no services; however, visitation will be held at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN on Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 1:00-5:00 PM.
