Visitation will be from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Micah Mobley and Rev. Steve Stull officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post #2689 of Huntington.

Arlen was born December 4, 1939 in Huntington, the son of Albert and Gladys E. (Hasty) Sands. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1957 and served in the United States Air Force as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He married Marsha I. Bowman on January 10, 1970 in Huntington. Arlen retired from the Huntington County Community School Corporation after 22 years of service in maintenance and was a member of Faith Community Church of God. He was also a member of VFW Post #2689, American Legion Post #7, and Moose Lodge, all in Huntington. He was an avid bowler and loved to golf.
Survivors include a daughter – Amy (Timothy) Roberts of Huntington; a son – Eric (Gena) Sands of Roanoke; two sisters – Rhea (Richard) Zickafoose of Huntington and Lois Bidwell of Wabash; and five grandchildren. His parents and a sister, Phyllis Baker, precede him in death.
