Anna F. (Grile) Toler

Anna F. (Grile) Toler, 96, LaFontaine, passed away at 10:24 a.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Portland (Jay County) on August 16, 1921, to the late Rev. Noah and Edythe (Byrd) Grile.

Anna graduated from Jefferson Township (Upland) in 1939. On October 14, 1942, she married Russell Toler. She worked at Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. (Ericsson, Inc.) for 42 years as a clerk-typist and was known as “Machine Shop Annie”. She was a charter member of Aureae Amicae Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association for 47 years and was elected their “1964 Woman of the Year”. She was also a charter member of Grace Community Church, where she was active as an usher and served as a kitchenette. Anna was a member of the Marion General Hospital Auxiliary, A.A.R.P, and American Legion Auxiliary in Van Buren. She actively participated in the Marion Easter Pageant for over 20 years and was very active in the Thomas Jefferson Neighborhood Association. Anna enjoyed playing golf at Arbor Trace, Shady Hills, and Lakeview golf courses. She also loved camping, cooking, working in her yard, as well as helping and doing for others. She had no children but was a beloved “Aunt Annie” to many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two sisters, Glendora Berger and Byrdie May Smith; sister-in-law, Phyllis Grile; and special niece, Judy (Earl) Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; special niece, Rosalie Couch; and 12 siblings, Marcella (Fred) Moorman, Virgie (Robert) Kinney, Ernestine (Morton) St. John, Wynonia Grile, Paul (Marcele) Grile, James Albert Grile, Gerald (Marilyn) Grile, Merrill (Gwen) Grile, Carroll Grile, Richard (Margaret) Grile, and Jean Ann (Paul) Zeigler.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with Anna’s funeral service beginning at 12 noon at Grace Community Church on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Jefferson Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
