On Wednesday May 25, 2016, Amon Tew, 79 of Kokomo, formerly of Miami, IN went peacefully home to be with the Lord. He was born on July 5, 1936 in Conway, AR to Alvie and Alpha Tew. He married Joanna (Kessler) Tew, who preceded him in death. He married Evelyn Joan (Sommers) Tew in 1979, who survives.

He retired from Kokomo Sanitary Pottery in 1998 after 41 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing at his church services and helped in many other ways in the church. He enjoyed cutting wood, riding his bicycle around town, and delivering mail at the nursing home. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Amon is survived by his wife Joan, his mother Alpha Caudle, sons Richard (Denise) Tew, Jeffrery (Tammy) Tew, Dale Sommers, Kevin (Patti) Sommers, and Brian (Lisa) Sommers; and daughter Pam (Jeff) Maish. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Alvie Tew, wife Joanna Tew, his sisters Brenda and Joan Suiter, and brother Johnny Tew.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 31 from 2 pm to 7 pm and funeral will be Wednesday June 1 at 10 am at Allen’s Funeral Home, in Bunker Hill, IN. Following funeral service, burial will be at Clymer Cemetery in Miami County, IN.
