Alonzo W. “Lonnie” Bennett Jr., 77 of Bluffton passed away at 4:37 am on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne. Alonzo worked as an electrician for several years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the early 1960’s. He enjoyed bicycling, sewing, antique shopping, writing poetry, and attending car shows. Alonzo was very patriotic and regularly attended bible study. He also enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus for children at Christmas time.

Alonzo was born on August 18, 1939 in Clair, Michigan, the son of Alonzo Sr. and Lillian (Rickey) Bennett.

Survivors include: Two daughters; Denise (Herbert) Wilkinson of Baldwin, GA and Lynn Hulsey of Mt. Airy, GA, One brother; Charles (Betty) Bennett of Liberty Center, IN, One sister; Betty (Andrew) Parks of Zeffer Hills, FL, Six grandchildren; Bryce Allen, Caitlyn Hulsey, Hannah Poole, Abby Hulsey, Jessica Hulsey and Talmadge Wilkinson.

He was preceded in death by: His parents; Alonzo Sr. and Lillian Bennett, A sister; Doris Thompson and A brother; Fred Bennett

There will be no public Visitation or Services.

Interment will be in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN at a later date.
