Ada Faye McMurray, 77, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Churchill, TN, to Cart and Dorothy Hazel (Hutson) Smith. She married William Harley McMurray on December 14, 1956, and he survives.
Ada was a wonderful cook. She was particularly known for her biscuits and was once hired by a restaurant in Tennessee for the sole purpose of making her biscuits. Ada worked for Jim Dandy’s for 12-13 years before going to work for Ryan’s for 3 years. She previously worked for St. Regis Paper Company. Ada also enjoyed crocheting and making tacked quilts. She attended South Marion Freewill Baptist Church.
Family was very important to Ada. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to traveling to Tennessee to visit her family. Ada also enjoyed walking at the mall with her husband.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy; children, Rodney (Tammy) McMurray, Swayzee, Roger (Connie) McMurray, Churchill, TN, Haskill (Barbara) McMurray, Converse, Kathy (Joe) Adcock, Marion, Lee (Stephanie) McMurray, Marion, Allen (Michele) McMurray, Marion, and Jeff (Sarah) McMurray, Marion; siblings, Ronald Smith, Churchill, TN, Richard Smith, Rogersville, TN, Wanda (Jim) Gray, Churchill, TN, Louise Christian, Churchill, TN, and Sheila (Kevin) Long, Churchill, TN; 27 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Ada was preceded in death by her father, Cart; and son, David “Daniel” McMurray.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Emery Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
